The Real Route Co. was built from real trips, real logistics, and real family life.

We’re a UK based family who plan, design, and document travel routes so others don’t have to figure everything out from scratch. Many of our routes are based on journeys we’ve personally completed, while others are carefully researched, structured, and built using the same real world planning approach.

Every route is created with practicality in mind; timing, distance, rest stops, food options, and the reality of travelling with other people, not just ideal conditions.

Kera leads the route planning and design. With a background in photography, storytelling, and hands on logistics, she focuses on creating journeys that are structured, achievable, and realistic, not just “Pinterest perfect”. Kera also travels extensively across the UK photographing weddings, and has worked abroad capturing destination celebrations too. This constant movement, planning routes, managing timelines, navigating unfamiliar places and working to tight schedules, naturally feeds into how Real Route Co. journeys are created: organised, efficient, and built to work in real life, not just on paper.

Jamie works for a prestigious engineering company and travels regularly across the UK and internationally. Route planning, efficiency, and logistics are part of his everyday life, and that practical thinking shapes how every Real Route Co. itinerary is built; clear, logical, and designed to work in the real world.

Our two boys who are nearly 2 and 3½ have been travelling since they were just two weeks old. Many routes are built with family pacing in mind: food stops, toilet access, realistic driving expectations, and flexibility for unpredictable days.

Grandma (67 and proudly retired) joins us on many trips, adding another perspective around comfort, accessibility, and pace. Occasionally, Kera’s brother (30) joins too, helping test routes with a broader group dynamic.

Not every route will be personally travelled before it’s published, but every single one is planned using the same real world thinking, practical structure, and experience led approach.

This isn’t luxury travel.

It’s not backpacking either.

It’s real travel. with people, personalities, time limits, and changing plans. And that’s exactly why The Real Route Co. exists.

We plan routes properly so you can spend less time stressing and more time experiencing the journey.
